Superstars represent at Worlds 2017
We are finally able to share the very exciting news that Superstars will be represented at the International Cheer Union (ICU) Worlds competition held at Disney in Florida April 26th-28th 2017. Head Coach and Program Director Rachel has been selected as a member of the first ever Team England ParaCheer Freestyle Pom team. Both the ParaCheer Cheer and Pom Team England teams are training roughly every fortnight for 6hrs each time until Worlds 2017.
ParaCheer is a competitive division at ICU Worlds currently offered in Cheer and Freestyle Pom. It unifies teams of disabled (minimum 25% of the team) and non-disabled athletes and its' scoring at competition recognises and rewards the full involvement of the teams' disabled athletes within the routine. It has its own rules and scoring system that takes into account the adaptations that may be required to enable disabled participants to execute the required skills.
This is the first year that ParaCheer and ParaCheer Freestyle Pom are competitive divisions and we're so excited to have one of our program involved and able to represent on the Worlds stage. We're sure it won't be the last time a Superstar is on a Worlds floor with England on their chest!
