BCA Summer Showdown 2016

What a weekend! Even though it was a fairly nearby competition it was a long couple of days for our staff and athletes who got to experience a huge arena event with a wide range of programs from across the south east. Our teams and athletes did us proud. See the full results here.

Stun - Youth 1 Cheer

Ladies you experienced two extreme setbacks within 48hrs. One before competition and one on the day itself. You handled this with maturity, grace and professionalism. Unfortunately the adrenaline and emotions associated affected our performance on the mat and sadly what we showed to the judges was far from our best run. Despite that - you all fought, you all performed and you all supported each other. You are an incredibly strong team of powerful young ladies and we are looking forward to great things from you in the future.

Storm - Junior 2 Cheer

Just look at how much difficulty, performance and team work you put out on that floor! In under an hour you added a further 15 speciality standing and running passes to your routine and you nailed it. Many of you have earned and performed new skills this season which is something huge to be proud of. While we know you were sad not to place higher you should be extremely proud of yourselves especially given how young some of our team are. You have been a pleasure to train this season and we are so proud of you.

Sparklers - Tiny 1 Cheer

Little Ladies - your first time on the floor and you managed to beat two other teams in your division. Considering there was only 5 of you to fill that huge floor - that is an incredible achievement. You all did so well at remembering your routine and performing it for the judges and your audience. Outside of your routine - you've all developed your solo skills like tumble so much and have come so far. We can't wait to see what you'll be doing next season.

Sunshine - Mini 1 Stunt

Ladies you were only 0.5pts off 1st place!!! You've been training together for less than a term, many of you in brand new stunt positions and with a new flyer - and look what you achieved. Your routine showcased such a range of skills and techniques and you handled it all with such maturity. Some of you were newer to cheer when we started and you had to learn quickly about how tough we have to be in this sport - that's a hard lesson for any 8 year old (or 6 year old). You took that opportunity to learn and grow and as a result you're so much stronger as people (little people). We could not be prouder.

Surge - Youth Jazz Dance

Few of you had any experience in jazz before we started the season. Your routine showcased a range or turns, leaps, kicks, tricks and partnering - look how much you learned. This team has such a diverse group of individuals from your dance and training backgrounds, to your personalities to your ages - but you've all learned to work as a team when you perform. Who knows what style of dance we will throw at you next season? But we know whatever it is you will rise to the challenge.

Smoulder - Open 1 Cheer

Our Superstar adults - what can I say? Your score was so incredibly close to first and it just shows how much you've learned this season, how tight you are as a team and just how good you are. Our competition, being a university team, were likely 10-20 something years younger than some of you and you held your own! You're an incredible group and it's been a pleasure to coach you this season.

Salvation - Senior 4.2 Cheer

So close to utter perfection! Many if not all of you have competed new tumble skills this season and ALL of you have stepped up at least one level (if not two) on your stunting. It's not been an easy road but you've earned your skills, proven your talent and given your trust to others. These are all huge accomplishments all of which you should be exceptionally proud. You belief in yourselves and your own skills has always been our biggest challenge. We hope you can watch your routine back and see just how exceptional you are. We've seen that and known it all season. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to yourselves and each other. You've had some of the best attendance of any team this season and it's definitely paid off.

Swagger - Youth 3 Stunt

We added even more difficulty since our last competition three weeks ago and you embraced it. You work together, trust each other and keep each other safe. You are very talented and hard working young ladies and you should all be very proud of the step up you took this season. Level 3 is a big step with all the twisting and spinning involved and we would not have introduced it if we didn't trust you and your athletic maturity. You've earned that trust and you continue to earn our respect for how committed you are to being the best you can be.

Sensation - Open Lyrical Jazz

There are hardly any words for this journey, this routine and your performance. You're all simply beautiful people and dancers. Thank you for trusting each other and for sharing this routine with the rest of us. It has be a particularly special season and a true pleasure.

Stealth - Junior 4 Stunt

Last season many of you were level 1 or level 2. Now you've earned 1st place at level 4. While your run was not flawless - we know you have that perfect one within you and are so looking forward to our final competition to see it. You work so well and diligently as a team - this is so wonderful to watch.

Showcase - Senior HipHop

While this was not your cleanest performance you embraced a number of new sections and increased difficulty in the last few sessions and more than ever gave one heck of a performance. You opened the day in a freezing and near empty arena and a very cold and slippery floor and you did it with a winning routine and performance. Very well done. Now to get back to upping our game ahead of our final event of the season. No rest for the crazy.
