Bag Pack Fundraising
We take part in bag packing at various supermarkets to earn money towards competition costs, awards nights and brand new equipment. It's an important part of our season as we believe that even our youngest members should represent our program in the community and earn towards the costs of their sport.
Here are some notes about bag packing with Superstars:
Only bring the minimum belongings you need in a small bag that you can wear or keep at your feet while bag packing. Do not bring any valuables you don’t need.
Please arrive so you are ready to start at your booked time.
We encourage short fundraising slots (1-3hrs max) so you can work hard, smile loads and pack without needing much, if any break. This helps share all the slots across everyone and ensure you're all your most positive, friendly and helpful selves.
If you are working a longer day it is ideal if you bring a packed lunch as if you have to shop for food during your lunch break you will have less time to eat and sit down.
Upon arrival please report to the chaperone in charge who will report the time you start. Chaperones will record the length of any breaks taken and the time you leave at the end of your shift.
At the end of your slot chaperones will release you to a parent or release you if not going home with a parent.
The amount earned is based on the individual's time worked and the total we earn over the weekend or day less any expenses.
DRESS CODE – Full uniform (if you don’t have a uniform smart looking with red season t-shirt and black bottoms). It can be cold inside so bring your team jackets and wear leggings or tights under your skort. Jackets/hoodies are only to be worn if absolutely needed.
MAKE-UP / HAIR - Neat hair tied up with season bow if you have one (or training bow). Natural make-up only - nothing overly dramatic. The smarter and more respectable/professional you look - the more people will donate.
BEHAVIOUR – Polite and friendly at all times. Please follow direction of your chaperones and/or store staff. Do not stand and chat with other athletes instead focus on engaging with customers and offering them help. Absolutely no phones out when on shift.
SOME TIPS TO EARN MORE
Smile. People like people who are friendly. No one will want to support you if you are being moody or look bored.
Offer to help with their packing. If they refuse - smile and wait for the next customer. If they say something like 'sorry I don't have any change', reply by telling them that it's ok and you can still help.
People may not always donate - that's ok.
If they seem interested, tell the customer about the team and your place within it (without being overly personal); that we are raising money for regional and national competitions.
Offer customers a flyer so they can see pictures of the team and better see what we do.
Ask if they want anything packed together. Generally try to pack cold with cold and soft/fragile items at the top of bags e.g. eggs and bread.
If in doubt, ask a more experienced athlete or your chaperones for help or guidance.
