CHAMPION CHEERLEADERS' GOLD HAUL

A cheerleading team is bringing back the gold, taking home seven first place trophies from a national competition.

The Reading Superstars, based in Whitley, had plenty to celebrate after claiming success in all seven divisions they entered at the CheerSport Wales Nationals last month.

Coach Reading Berenson-Perkins said; "We are over the moon - one if the big things we've been working on this season is people believing in themselves. It doesn't matter what background you come from there is nothing to stop you achieving things like this."

The competing teams, made up of dancers and cheerleaders aged 11 to 28, entered seven divisions including group stunt, partner stunt and jazz. The cheerleaders already have eight national titles under their belt with more competitions to come including Future Cheer Nationals on Saturday July 6 and Sunday July 7th.

Rachel said: "We're now aiming for 10 national titles - the most we have ever had before is just one or two per season. We are more than just a team - we are a big family."
